Overview

MetStudios’ machine labs and workshop spaces are based within House of Music, our state-of-the-art creative facility.

Located in the R.A.W. area, House of Music sits at the intersection of Berlin’s two most creative districts: Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg.

House of Music creates space for creative collaboration, co-working environments, and diverse networking possibilities. Located within a historical wheel-set turnery, students from across BIMM University Berlin have daily opportunities to study and create together.

The bespoke learning spaces are tailored for both digital and physical creation:

  • Machine labs for computer-based work
  • Workshops for hands-on learning, physical prototyping, and creative brainstorming sessions

The campus is equipped with high-performance PCs and the latest graphics technology to support your learning:

  • High-spec gaming PCs with Nvidia RTX 4070Ti graphics cards
  • XP-Pen Artist 22″ graphics tablets for precise digital art creation
  • Wacom Cintiq and Intuos graphics tablets for advanced design work
  • Complete console gaming facilities with PlayStation 5, XBox Series S & X, Nintendo Switch, and legacy systems

You’ll have access to a comprehensive suite of software, including:

  • Game engines: Unreal Engine 5 and Unity for developing 2D and 3D projects
  • 3D design: Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, and SideFX Houdini for modelling, rigging, and visual effects
  • Creative suite: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Substance 3D Painter, and Designer)
  • Programming: Visual Studio for coding and scripting

Learning Resources

MetStudios Berlin Learning Resources

Berlin students have access to the Deutsche Kinemathek Library at Potsdamer Platz. Additionally, all students across both MetStudios have access to subject-specific e-libraries and streaming services, including:

  • Bloomsbury Screen Studies Collection
  • Bloomsbury Drama Core Collection
  • MUBI

Berlin students have digital access to the resources available at the Learning Space at Ealing Studios, based at our London campus, along with study support from our Learning Space Officer.

Teaching spaces at House of Music act as multi-functional rooms, offering a flexible working environment.

Students have the opportunity to book these rooms to use for production meetings, location shoots, and conference calls.

Students also have access to the Mac Lab, with all laptops equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, and additional filmmaking softwares.

House of Music is also home to its own café, which hosts a number of live events and networking opportunities.
