This two-day course is all about being experimental in how stories are created and shared. You’ll challenge traditional approaches by exploring interactive, non-linear, and technology-driven forms of storytelling.

Through hands-on workshops and collaboration, you’ll discover new ways to combine creativity and technology, gaining skills that prepare you for undergraduate study or help you grow as an early-career practitioner.

Introduction to Storytelling in Creative Technologies gives you the chance to experiment with how stories are told across emerging media.

You’ll explore interactive and non-linear storytelling, use creative technology to shape narratives, and collaborate on short experimental projects.

The course will help you build confidence in combining creativity and technology, preparing you for further study or early-career work in fields such as games, animation, and digital media.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Experiment with non-traditional and tech-enabled storytelling approaches.
  • Explore narrative techniques across games, animation, film, and the broader creative technologies.
  • Work collaboratively to create short, innovative projects.

Students explore the following key areas of study during the Introduction to Storytelling in Creative Technologies course:

  • Innovative Story Structures: experimenting with non-linear, interactive, and cross-platform narratives.
  • Creative Technologies in Practice: using digital tools to shape and present new forms of storytelling.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Approaches: drawing from games, animation, film, and XR to expand narrative possibilities.
  • Collaborative Making: working in groups to design and test experimental story concepts.
  • Portfolio Development: creating a short piece of work that demonstrates experimental practice with creative technologies.

 


 

Course Timetable

Please note that this is an indicative calendar. Specific details, including the order of modules, may vary from cohort to cohort. Students will be issued a more detailed schedule at the start of the course.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Minimum Age: 18 at the start of the course.

This course is open enrolment and there are no entry requirements.

In order to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.

Please be aware that we have a limited number of places available for each course intake and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Duration: 2 days Full-Time (Saturday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm).
  • Location: London

This course is not externally accredited, but at the end of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion for the course (subject to successful completion of the course).
