Inside MetStudios: The hardware, software and spaces powering student work

By MetStudios

28 October 2025

What makes a great game, animation or VFX course isn’t just the syllabus, it’s the environment. At MetStudios we pair industry-standard tools with collaborative spaces and expert teaching, ensuring that you’re learning the actual workflows studios use today.

High-spec hardware

When your projects demand real-time rendering, complex simulations or large textures, a powerful PC changes everything. MetStudios’ labs are equipped with high-performance PCs and the latest Nvidia RTX 4070Ti graphics cards to support you. This allows students to run game engines and visualise work at high fidelity without everything slowing down. That means faster iteration, less waiting, and more time actually making things.

We also have XP-Pen Artist 22″ graphics tablets for precise digital art creation, and Wacom Cintiq and Intuos graphics tablets for advanced design work.

Along with this, we have all the games consoles you could ever need, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S & X, Nintendo Switch, and older legacy systems too!

Whether you’re prototyping gameplay in Unreal or making a character in ZBrush, our reliable hardware keeps you going.

Industry-standard software

We’ll teach you the software and tools that professional game studios actually use every day: game engines, 3D sculpting programs, visual effects software, and procedural generation systems. Our PC labs are equipped with industry-standard software like Maya, Unreal Engine, Houdini, ZBrush, and Adobe Creative Cloud – the same tools you’ll find at major studios.

This isn’t about name-dropping impressive software. It’s about making sure that when you start your career, you already know how to use what is being used. You’ll work with these tools throughout your tutorials and projects, building real fluency so you can hit the ground running in your career.

You’ll have access to a comprehensive suite of software, including:

  • Game engines: Unreal Engine 5 and Unity for developing 2D and 3D projects
  • 3D design: Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, and SideFX Houdini for modelling, rigging, and visual effects
  • Creative suite: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Substance 3D Painter, and Designer)
  • Programming: Visual Studio for coding and scripting

Spaces that encourage collaboration and iteration

Tools matter and so does the space you use them in. Our studios and collaborative rooms are set up for teamwork: roomy desks, pairing stations, prototyping benches, and social nooks where ideas spark. Our spaces are arranged to mirror production environments, not lecture halls.

In practice, that means group playtesting is easy, feedback loops are short, and cross-course collabs (games + animation + VFX) can happen organically.
