Want to break into the games industry? At MetStudios Berlin, part of BIMM University, we make sure our students experience life as game developers and game artists from the very first week. If you’d like to see and experience this for yourself, come join us at the MetStudios Berlin Game Jam – a week-long event making games, having fun collaborating, eating pizza and living the game dev life!
What to expect
- A safe space – A place where everyone can feel calm and safe. No matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, we’ve got each other’s backs.
- Lots of fun making games.
- Collaborations – you’ll team up with our BIMM students to create a digital game or a board game.
- Opening Masterclass with NATHALIE LAWHEAD – IGF Nuovo Award 2015 (GDC), A MAZE – Digital Moment Award 2016, Indiecade Interaction Award 2017, MoMA induction 2022 for “Everything is Going to Be OK” – on Monday at 10:00 am.
- 1-on-1 tutorials with NATHALIE LAWHEAD on Monday and Tuesday.
- Closing Masterclass (Online) with NICOLAS GUERIN – Creative Director at Thunder Lotus, and previously Tabletop RPG Designer in Paris, Game Designer at EA Montreal (Army of Two, Skate), Level Designer and Level Design Director at Ubisoft (Assassin’s Creed Series, Watch Dogs 2) – on Friday, November 7th at 4:30 pm.
Guidance and support
- BIMM lecturers are coming by regularly to support the Game Jam participants with art, design and technical issues.
- BIMM staff are present all the time.
- No experience required – Beginners welcome! No programming or prior experience is required (though it’s always welcome!).
- Creative collaboration – Work in teams on digital games or board games.
- Networking & inspiration – Connect with students across disciplines and spark new ideas.
- Food: Pizzas, refreshments, ice cream and snacks provided!
- Theme: The theme will be announced at the start of the event.
- Closing ceremony – the games produced will be showcased and played on Friday afternoon. We will celebrate with tacos and drinks at 3 pm. Feel free to invite your parents!
Important info
- ATTENTION: This event requires commitment and participation throughout the entire week, from Monday to Friday.
- Registration doesn’t automatically grant participation. Applications will be reviewed and spots offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to games applicants for 2026.
- BIMM University Berlin will issue a letter for all participating high school students, providing official justification for their involvement in the game jam at their school.
