By MetStudios
16 October 2025
MetStudios is a newly launched specialist school for games, animation, and visual effects (VFX), offering BA, MA and short courses; created in 2024 as part of a broader evolution in creative education and the wider creative industries. Building on the legacy of our partner school, MetFilm School,
MetStudios reflects the natural progression of our most successful alumni and represents the next step for a new generation of creators. As the lines between film, games, animation, and VFX continue to blur, new forms of storytelling are emerging, and MetStudios stands at the heart of this creative convergence.
As a partner institution to MetFilm School, MetStudios draws on MetFilm School’s decades of experience in film and screen education. It’s not just sharing the heritage, facilities, and industry relationships, but creating a cross-campus ecosystem where filmmakers, animators, designers and developers can collaborate and push creative boundaries together.
Our new courses have been rebuilt for 2026, with a focus on your learning being practical, experimental and fueled by curiosity. You’ll work on projects that stretch your imagination and give you a glimpse of what’s possible in digital media.

The UK is recognised as one of the world’s leading centres for games, animation, and visual effects (VFX). Together, these industries contribute billions to the UK economy each year and support tens of thousands of creative professionals across development, production, and post-production. The UK games industry alone is valued at around £7.6 billion and supports more than 73,000 jobs nationwide, with over 2,500 active studios spanning the country. Recent successes highlight the mix of games, film, and television. The Last of Us and Fallout proved the storytelling strength of game worlds on screen, while Arcane redefined animated adaptation with its visual and emotional depth. The Mandalorian showcased Unreal Engine’s StageCraft technology as a breakthrough in virtual production, and animated The Super Mario Bros. Movie became a global box office hit. Together, these examples demonstrate how games and real-time technology are reshaping modern entertainment.
In VFX and animation, the UK continues to play a leading international role, generating over £1.3 billion in annual turnover and employing more than 12,000 skilled professionals. London is currently the third-largest hub globally for VFX and animation workforces and remains home to some of the world’s most innovative studios and creative talent.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more information and success stories from our courses, showcasing the incredible opportunities our students are making the most of.
